Where to Serve!

  • Children's Ministry

    What:
Working with the Children’s Director and assisting with lessons during Sunday school.

    Why It’s Important:
This is a formative season for our children and during this time, we want them to get to know Jesus and instill in them the truth that they are precious in the sight of God and that they are deeply known and deeply loved. This is a great opportunity for the current generation to invest in the next!

  • Liturgists

    What:
Reading the Prayers of the People and/or scripture passages of the day.

    Why It’s Important:
Liturgy means “the Work of the People.” The liturgists brings in the communal participation further emphasizing that our liturgy is a communal act of worshipping God.

  • Hosts

    What:
Intentionally making everyone feel welcomed and comfortable. Helping guests navigate through the building and liturgy and offering the guests a “welcome gift bag.” Ensuring that there is space for people to sit, bringing out chairs, when necessary.

    Why It’s Important:
Sunday Liturgies can be a confusing and lonely experience for people who may not be familiar with Mosaic. We want to intentionally be welcoming to everyone — particularly to our guests — so that they know they always have a place here at Mosaic.

  • Communion Server

    What:
Serving of bread with the words “the body of Christ keep you in everlasting life” or
the serving of wine with the words “the blood of Christ keep you in everlasting life.”

    Why It’s Important:
The Eucharist (or communion) is the centerpiece of our liturgy. It is a sacrament that serves as a physical reminder of God’s presence, grace, and love. As a Communion Server, you participate in the sacred act by administering the bread and wine as we remember who we are and whose we are.

  • Power Point Team

    What:
Running the powerpoint (keynote for Mac) during Sunday morning liturgy.

    Why It’s Important:
We at Mosaic are trying to conserve paper-use as much as possible so instead of having a bulletin, all of our liturgy is projected onto the screen. This role helps people participate in the liturgy by making sure we are all on the same page.

  • Mosaic Interior Designer

    What:
Designing and decorating the space and altar table with the theme of the liturgical season or sermon.

    Why It’s Important:
Having the space and altar table reflect the liturgical season or the theme of the message will help enhance the worship experience.

  • Acolyte

    What:
    Lighting of the candles.

    Why It’s Important:
This might be the most simplest ways to get our children involved in the liturgy. The lighting of candle, for us, signifies the beginning of the liturgy and a reminder that Christ is the light of our world and that we are called to be Christ’s light in the world.
